Sunrooms are a beautiful addition to any home. However, they are such a unique style of room that they can be tricky to decorate. Here are a few tips to help you create a bright and relaxing sunroom.
Maximize Your Lighting
A sunroom’s strongest features are its large windows and abundant natural light. Make the most of this by not blocking your windows with any furniture or heavy curtains. Save the drapes for the bedroom and opt for light, breezy curtains in your sunroom or no curtains at all. Position the furniture so that it blocks as little of the windows as possible.
You’ll also need some lighting for after the sun goes down. Continue the relaxing vibes into the evening hours with soft, warm lighting. Café-style string lights or golden lamplight look beautiful here.
Choose the Right Color Palette
Choosing the right color palette is important here. Opt for colors that are light and airy and save the heavy colors or rich jewel tones for other rooms of your home. Light neutrals, pastels, or relaxing shades of blues, greens, and purples look lovely here.
If you aren’t sure what to choose, you can’t go wrong with a lovely sage green or a wistful blueish purple.
Bring the Outdoors In
Sunrooms are unique in that they bridge the gap between the inside and outside spaces of your home. Because of this, you can’t go wrong with incorporating decorating ideas that blur indoor and outdoor living.
For example, bringing house plants into your sunroom can liven up the space. Take decorating notes from outdoor places like your patio and indoor spaces like your living room to create a halfway space that makes your entire home feel cohesive.
Creating a bright and relaxing sunroom can be difficult, but not with these tips! Incorporate these ideas into your sunroom’s design, and you’ll be living your I-Deal Lifestyle in no time. For more information about creating a relaxing home, check out this free copy of my guide to feng shui basics.
